The thermostat allows the user to control the temperature of the range. You may need to replace your thermostat if your oven is heating unevenly or not properly. May need a Philips head screwdriver.

*WARNING: Before starting any repair, always make sure that the appliance is completely disconnected from the power source by unplugging it. For this repair make sure you also turn off the gas line. This tutorial is meant to be a guide and should not be used in place of the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Step-by-step how-to on replacing your range's thermostat (part number 316032411) on a Kenmore range.

1. Make sure your range is disconnected from it's power source and the gas line is turned off.
2. Open the top of the oven, and put the kickstand hinges in place to keep open.
3. Take off the thermostat knob.
4. Using your screwdriver, remove the two screws.
5.Remove the thermostat and then disconnect the wires.
6. Open your oven, go inside, take the thermostat off the clips, and pull through the top.
7. Grab your new OEM replacement thermostat, put through the inside of the oven from the top and reattach to clips, then you can close your oven.
8. Reattach wires to new thermostat, put back into place.
9. Screw in the old screws that were previously take off.
10. Reattach knob, close top of oven.
